Why Chair Yoga with Jane?
It is accessible for anyone interested in learning to move in a gentle, mindful way.
Jane encourages you to honor and accept your bodies limitations while strengthening and stretching with adapted yoga postures.
Class starts with seated breath work and brief meditation. Then Jane will guide you through seated stretches, core strengthening, and hip mobility. Next we stand for focused balancing postures and mindful balance strategies (with chair support).
We finish seated in the chair for a brief hand yoga routine to promote grip strength and dexterity, then self hand massage with healing essential oils. Lastly, time to relax, and reflect in a quiet, integrating meditation.
This class is suitable for everyone. No previous experience required.
Why Chair Yoga with Susan?
The goals of my chair yoga classes are similar to the other yoga classes I teach, without moving down to the floor. Focusing on posture and breath, you will be guided through gentle stretches, improving flexibility and strength, and decreasing stress, anxiety, and depression. Various pose options are given, making this class available to all. As Arthur Ashe said “ Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.” Those new to yoga and those with some experience find chair yoga a safe way to strengthen the body and increase mental well-being in a community of others looking for the same thing.
